The terms behind the platform, in plain language.

Each entry defines a term, says why it matters and shows how it applies in Corlogic.

Twelve terms.

Semantic layer

A semantic layer defines business terms and how they are calculated once, between raw data and the people or tools that query it.

Star schema

A star schema organizes analytical data into fact tables that record events and dimension tables that describe what those events involve.

Text-to-SQL

Text-to-SQL converts a question written in ordinary language into a SQL query a database can run, today usually with a large language model.

BPMN 2.0

BPMN 2.0 is a standard notation for describing business processes as tasks, events and gateways, with an XML format tools can exchange.

DMN

DMN is a standard for describing business decisions separately from processes, most often as decision tables that map conditions to outcomes.

Human-in-the-loop

Human-in-the-loop describes a system in which people review, approve or correct what software, especially AI, proposes before it takes effect.

AI agent

An AI agent is software that uses a language model to carry out a task by choosing its own steps and tools instead of following a fixed script.

Row-level security

Row-level security limits which rows of a table each user or role can read or change, on top of which tables they can reach.

Model Context Protocol (MCP)

The Model Context Protocol is an open protocol that gives AI applications a standard way to connect to external tools and data sources.

Forward-deployed engineering

Forward-deployed engineering is a delivery model in which a vendor's engineers work directly with the customer's teams on the customer's problem.

Request for quotation (RFQ)

A request for quotation is a document a buyer sends to suppliers asking them to quote a price and terms for specified goods or services.

Progress payment (hakediş)

A progress payment pays a contractor or subcontractor for the work completed in a period, before the whole job is finished.
