What is DMN?
DMN (Decision Model and Notation) is a standard for describing business decisions separately from the processes that use them, most often as decision tables that map conditions to outcomes. Like BPMN, it is maintained by the Object Management Group.
How it works.
A decision table lists the inputs, such as an amount and a supplier category, and the rule that applies to each combination, such as who must approve. Keeping the rule in a table rather than in process logic or code means the people who own the policy can read and change it.
Why it matters.
Rules change more often than processes. Separating them keeps the process diagram stable while the thresholds move.
How Corlogic uses it.
Corlogic's process runtime moves work through tasks, gateways, events and DMN decision tables, alongside BPMN 2.0 process models.
Start with a recurring process that is harder to coordinate than it should be.
