What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open protocol that gives AI applications a standard way to connect to external tools and data sources. It was introduced by Anthropic in November 2024.

How it works.

An MCP server exposes capabilities, such as searching a system or creating a record, in a described, uniform form, and any MCP-capable AI client can use them. This replaces a separate custom integration for each pairing of model and tool.

Why it matters.

A common protocol lowers the cost of connecting AI to the systems a business already runs, and makes the list of permitted tools explicit.

How Corlogic uses it.

Corlogic works with operational tools through webhooks, MCP and configured communication channels. Each agent's permitted tools are defined, and a process step can narrow them further.

Start with a recurring process that is harder to coordinate than it should be.
